Cagliari's Davide Astori: I am ready for AC Milan

The Italian defender is currently under contract with the Sardinians, but is hopeful of moving to San Siro this summer, where he started his career
Cagliari defender Davide Astori feels that he is ready for a transfer to AC Milan, and has made it clear that he's eager to represent the Scudetto champions in the 2011-12 campaign.

Milan and Cagliari both hold 50 per cent of the player's economic rights, with Cagliari maintaining the sporting rights to the Italy international, but Astori is confident that the San Siro side will buy out the remainder of his contract.

"I feel like I am ready to join Milan. It seems as if [Adriano] Galliani is eager to complete my transfer in the near future and I am hopeful that the situation will be solved shortly," Astori told Il Corriere dello Sport.

"It is an important signal for me that Milan no longer want to extend the joint ownership. This shows that they have faith in me and that they see me as an important player for the future.

"Even if they fail to sign me now, that would not mean that my dream to wear the Milan jersey is over. It is not important whether I return to Milan now or in five years time."

The 24-year-old defender is a product of Milan's youth academy, but failed to make a first-team appearance, before moving to Cagliari in 2008.
