thumbnail Hello,

The Belgium international has attracted the attention of Milan, but the Serie A champions want to have one final look at him before making a move

Italian champions AC Milan are not yet fully convinced that Standard Liege's Axel Witsel is the right man to boost their squad, as sporting director Ariedo Braida will travel to Belgium this Friday to have one more look at the versatile midfielder before making an approach, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports.

Witsel will take to the pitch when Belgium face Turkey in a crucial Euro 2012 qualifier and Braida will be keeping a close eye on the the 22-year-old's performance in Brussels.

Milan have been heavily linked with the player, and reports earlier this week suggested that the San Siro side were in advanced talks with his club.

Braida's scouting trip to Belgium confirms that Milan's interest is genuine, but also suggests that both parties have not commenced negotiations as of yet.

Liege have reportedly set a €15 million asking price for the midfielder, who was one of the undisputed stars of the Belgian league in 2010-11.

Witsel has made well over 100 official appearances for Standard since making his official debut in 2006.
