Roma director Gian Paolo Montali has revealed the club plan to appeal Simone Perrotta's red card in Sunday's enthralling 3-2 victory over Bari.
Perrotta was one of three players to receive their marching orders in the hotly-contested game, and the midfielder was dismissed in stoppage time following an off-the-ball altercation with Andrea Masiello.
Reflecting on the incident, Montali feels the decision was harsh, telling Eurosport.com: “I hope that Perrotta is not banned. It wasn’t a violent gesture and the Bari player did overreact a little.
“Perhaps we will ask for the incident to be reviewed."
The win has renewed enthusiasm that a coveted Champions League spot is within reach, with the capital club now just a point behind fourth-placed Lazio, who entertain Juventus on Monday.
