Highly-rated midfielder Axel Witsel has caught the attention of Serie A giants Milan with his good performances for struggling Belgian side Standard Liege in the past couple of months, Le Figaro reports.
The Rossoneri are eager to add some fresh blood to their midfield in the summer transfer window, and head coach Massimiliano Allegri is thought to be a keen admirer of the 22-year-old.
Witsel is a product of the Standard Liege youth academy and has developed into a key player at les Rouches since making his official debut in September 2006. He has made over 100 appearances for the Jupiler League club.
Milan face stiff competition in the race for Witsel's services, though, with the promising midfielder previously linked with clubs such as Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
