Milan’s Massimiliano Allegri: Inter game is the biggest of my career

Allegri understands the importance of a Milan victory over Inter…

Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri has defined Saturday evening’s encounter with Inter in Serie A as the “most important game” of his career.

The Rossoneri take on their city-rivals at San Siro in a top-of-the-table clash. Milan are two points clear of the Beneamata in pole position but have struggled in recent weeks, failing to win any of their last three competitive matches.

A defeat on Saturday will not only allow the Nerazzurri to leapfrog Milan into top place but could also see Napoli close the gap. The Azzurri are third in the standings and are just a point behind Inter.

Allegri knows the significance of the Derby della Madonnina this weekend and told La Gazzetta dello Sport: "This is the most important game of my career but life is a challenge so we'll go and play it. I'm enjoying myself and I feel calm. I was very confident at the beginning of the season and I still am now.

"It would have been nice to still have a ten-point lead [over Inter] but it's also nice to play a derby with as much riding on it as this one, which hasn't happened for many years."

Allegri also underlined the threat posed by Inter striker Samuel Eto’o and said: "He's someone who always looks like he's going to make a difference. Despite everything he's won and all the goals he's scored he still wants to chase up and down the line."

Milan will be without the services of star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is suspended.

Kick-off at the San Siro is at 2045 CET on Saturday. Click Play to see how the Derby della Madonnina will finish according to EA Sports' FIFA 11 simulation.
