Milan centre-back Thiago Silva believes that he is in perfect harmony with Alessandro Nesta on the pitch, enthusing that they are "a perfect couple".
The duo started against Juventus in their 1-0 victory in Turin in Serie A on Saturday evening and gave a professional performance against the Bianconeri.
The Brazilian has established himself as one of top centre-backs in Europe but he remains modest and believes that veteran Italian defender Nesta is one of the main reasons why he has been successful at Milan.
“We must talk about Nesta, because without him it would have been much more difficult for me," said the 26-year-old, according to Milan's official website. "When I play alongside him I feel really relaxed, I think we’re a perfect couple."
Looking back on Saturday's win in Turin, he continued: "We need to continue on this track, with our feet on the ground, because we haven’t won anything yet.
"This match was a fundamental challenge, the whole world was watching, and I’m glad to have the chance to play games like this, helping my teammates. We’re doing very well at the back. When you have a solid defence, the only thing the forwards have to worry about is making plays up front.
"A strong team must have a strong defence. Our victory tonight [Saturday] will be a blow for all of our rivals. The boss has a lot of faith in the team. In order to win you have to attack. You can’t just sit back, you have to go on the offence all the time. Now a very difficult game awaits us in London, but I’m sure we can get the job done.
"The important games are decided at the end and this team can pull it off on Wednesday [against Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League]."
