Nicola Legrottaglie hopes Milan maintain an advantage over title challengers Inter.
The veteran insists that the Nerazzurri are the ones that the Rossoneri will have to be wary of, despite the upcoming match between second placed Napoli and Milan on Monday in Serie A. Inter are currently five points off the pace.
"I think Inter are well equipped to compete until the end," he suggested to Sportmediaset.
"Much will also depend on the next round of the Champions League, because if Inter get knocked out of the competition then they become a direct opponent."
Both Milan and Inter lost the first-leg of their Champions League Round of 16 clashes on home soil to Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich respectively.
The 34-year-old has made just one appearance since joining the league-leaders in the winter transfer window from Juventus, having suffered an injury during a collision with Lazio striker Libor Kozak.
