Manchester United are checking up on Federico Macheda's rate of progress at Sampdoria as the Premier League outfit are concerned he may not be training hard enough.
Il Secolo XIX reports United boss Sir Alex Ferguson sent reserve team coach Warren Joyce and fitness assistant coach Marcello Iaia to Samp's Bogliasco training ground where they assessed the session on Wednesday.
Later, Joyce and Iaia are said to have spoken with the striker for his opinions on how the first six weeks of his loan have turned out.
The Italian striker, who joined Samp in January on loan until the end of term, has played eight games for the club, but he has struggled to find the net.
Despite impressing in front of the United coaches, the latest indications from Bogliasco are that he could be dropped ahead of 'Doria's Sunday clash against Inter, with coach Domenico Di Carlo keen to use Massimo Maccarone instead.
