Lazio president Claudio Lotito has admitted that he would like to acquire Sampdoria left-back Reto Ziegler, but insists a move depends on the Blucerchiati's desire to sell the player.
The 25-year-old had been an option for Milan, but their CEO Adriano Galliani recently ruled out the possibility of signing the Switzerland international, considering him too pricey.
"Ziegler is a lot like [Stephan] Lichtsteiner and both also play in the Swiss national team - an advantage for the player and also the team, but currently he is a player of Sampdoria," Lotito was quoted as saying by Datasport.
"Our custom is not to take action against the wishes of another club. If Sampdoria want to find an agreement, then great, otherwise he will stay there."
Ziegler has made 17 appearances in Serie A this season, scoring once in the process.
