As nine-man Sampdoria recovered from a goal down to edge past ten-man Roma in the early Sunday lunchtime fixture, coach Mimmo Di Carlo praised his men for their perseverance as they overcame the Giallorossi at the Marassi.
“We gave an intense performance,” he declared to SkySport.
“I was really happy with my boys out there today who started the game with the right mentality.
“After going a goal behind we had to pick ourselves up and we did that to excellent effect in the second period.
“We are delighted with this victory which will give the group even more conviction of its own abilities.
“There is still much room for improvement, but my side has a number of promising talents that can bring the fans much satisfaction during the second half of the season.”
