According to a report in A Bola, Italian outfit Sampdoria are closely monitoring the situation of promising youngster James Rodriguez, currently under contract with Portuguese table toppers Porto.
The Blucerchiati are eager to add some more depth to their attack in the January transfer window and previously secured the services of Federico Macheda on a loan deal. However, head coach Domenico Di Carlo isn't completely satisfied with his options up front and has now set his sights on Rodriguez.
The 19-year-old attacker joined Porto from Banfield in the summer of 2010, but has so far been unable to secure regular first team action.
Rodriguez has already voiced his concerns with his lack of playing time and could file a transfer request in the January transfer window. It remains to be seen though whether Porto are willing to cooperate.
The Colombian youngster is considered to be one of the most promising South American youngsters around and Porto see Rodriguez as an important player for the future.
