Genoa president Enrico Preziosi has confirmed reports from earlier today that Andrea Ranocchia will join Inter in the winter transfer window.
The two clubs currently co-own the player, with the Nerazzurri purchasing the remaining 50 per cent of his playing contract for €12.5 million.
"It was an intelligent deal. For the second part of his playing contract, Inter will play €12.5 million," the patron explained to Sky Sport. "The player was destined to join the Nerazzurri in June, but he will move earlier than expected.
"Our economic needs have been satisfied as well as Inter's technical needs."
The 22-year-old has impressed over the past 18 months, earning himself an Italian national team call-up. He is expected to replace Walter Samuel in the heart of the Beneamata defence, after the Argentine seriously injured his knee in November.
