Rafael Benitez Inter Sack Reports Intensify
By Salvatore Landolina
Dec 20, 2010 12:34:00 PM
Rafael Benitez is edging closer to an Inter sacking
Inter coach Rafael Benitez could be forced to clear his desk by the end of the day, with some reports claiming he has already been sacked.BBC Sport's Simon Austin claims Benitez has already been sacked by the club and returned to his home in Liverpool. That seems to be a follow-on from La Gazzetta dello Sport's earlier report in which they prefigured Massimo Moratti, the Inter president, has made plans to sign Luciano Spalletti from Zenit St. Petersburg.
Moratti then said he was staying quiet over the whole saga after learning of the reports. He was asked whether Benitez would be ousted, but neither confirmed nor denied the rumours.
As things stand Inter have not confirmed any decision or action in relation to Benitez's future. Il Corriere dello Sport suggests Moratti is taking his time over sacking him after consulting his son Angelomario.
The report adds Benitez has flown back to his home in Liverpool.
