Javier Zanetti bemoaned a terrible playing surface following Inter’s shock defeat away to Chievo.
“We are reaping less than what’s been sown in recent weeks,” Zanetti declared to InterChannel.
“Today it was a difficult match on a terrible playing surface but we still took to the field to win.
“Unfortunately in our best moment we conceded and then it was very hard to find a way back given the way Chievo closed up shop.
“Again when it looked like we would equalise the opposition doubled their lead. It is a difficult moment for us but we must remain calm.
“People have been talking about the status of the coach, but we have again demonstrated to have character. I think it’s a little unfair to judge the side right now given how many injured players we are missing.
“I don’t wish to look for excuses but is important to remember the facts. Now we must look to bounce back against Twente in the Champions League and I expect my teammates to take to the field with their heads held high as always.”
