As Rafael Benitez’s status as Inter coach hangs in the balance following the 2-1 defeat away to Chievo, Gialloblu coach Stefano Pioli praised his men for the manner in which they tamed the Italian champions using the counter attack to deadly effect.
“We knew we had chance to cause problems on the counter attack,” he declared to SkySport.
“During the week I prepared the game in such a manner and this afternoon it paid dividends.
“I think Inter played a very good game but credit must be paid to my side who stayed compact throughout the 90 minutes.
“The side played a perfect match and we hit the visitors when given the chance. These are a massive three points for us and I hope we can build on this result in the coming weeks.”
