Fiorentina coach Sinisa Mihajlovic has spoken out about Roma captain Francesco Totti as his side prepare to face the Giallorossi tonight in Serie A. Mihajlovic of course spent part of his career playing in the capital for the red half and claims it was he who helped the forward get his debut at the club.
Roma were set to face Brescia in 1992 and the Viola coach encouraged to the Roma boss of the time, Vujadin Boskov, to take Totti as back-up.
"We were due to play Brescia away and on the journey there I advised our coach to bring Totti along with us for emergency purposes. Seven minutes from the end we were 2-0 ahead and the coach decided to bring him on, hence Totti made his debut at Roma," Mihajlovic told Corriere dello Sport.
"We were good friends but for some reason he decided not to participate in my farewell game and our relationship ended there. Totti is a great champion, one of the best players Italy has ever produced, he deserves everything he has earned in the game," Mihajlovic concluded.
