After watching his Roma side return to victory following a routine win over Lecce, coach Claudio Ranieri praised his side for a confident display in the wake of a difficult period for the Giallorossi.
“We expressed ourselves well tonight,” he declared to SkySport.
“I thought we could have scored more than two but it is fair to say even the visitors deserved a goal.
The coach was then probed on the sending off to Francesco Totti who is now set to miss out on next weekend’s derby.
“I think the decision to send off both players was a little harsh,” Ranieri concluded.
“The referee could have just as easily given them cautions, and it is understandable that Totti let the tension get the better of him in the heat of the moment.
“I haven’t spoken to him yet as he was undergoing a routine doping test after the game but when I do we will try and put things into perspective.”
