Stefano Mauri praised his teammates following the victory over Cagliari which maintained Lazio’s grip on the Serie A summit.Lazio set a new club record by moving up to 19 points just eight rounds into the season, captain Stefano Mauri praised his teammates despite his umpteenth man-of-the-match performance for the Biancocelesti.
“I am happy not for my own performance but that of the whole side,” he declared to SkySport.
“After the disaster of last season, this year we are gifting the fans something to shout about.
“We like being at the top of the standings and right now the boys are enjoying themselves week by week.
“I think we were a little naïve this afternoon after doubling our lead. We risked a little when the game looked closed.
“Now it’s fundamental that we keep grounded and plough away each week. There is little use in setting any objectives as only by the spring will we be able to analyse what targets to aim for.”
