Lazio Coach Edoardo Reja Bemoans Concentration Dip Despite Victory Over Cagliari

Coach Edy Reja laughed off talks that Lazio are riding their luck as they continue to dominate at the top of Serie A.

As Lazio set a new club record by reaching 19 points after the opening eight rounds of the season, coach Edy Reja praised his men for another solid performance but highlighted the dangers losing concentration after witnessing a late Cagliari surge.

“We complicated things by conceding,” he declared to SkySport.

“Until the goal I thought my men put in another expert performance.

“We were two goals up and the level of concentration was excellent. Then when [Alessandro] Matri reduced the distance I thought we suffered a dip.

“Nevertheless, it’s normal that over the ark of 90 minutes you cannot always maintain the same level of concentration and credit must be paid to Cagliari for the manner in which they fought back.”

The coach was then probed as to whether Lazio are riding their luck a little as they sit at the top of the Serie A standings.

“The boys worked their socks off this afternoon and to hear any talk of ‘luck’ is simply disrespectful to their efforts and work-rate.”
