Marco Borriello denied his coach’s declarations that he was tired when substituted during the defeat to Napoli.
“I felt the Napoli defenders were more tired than me when I was substituted,” he declared to SkySport.
“When my number was called I was a little surprised but these are technical decisions and as a player you must respect them.
“It’s not true that I was tired, however [contrary to the earlier words of coach Claudio Ranieri].
“I don’t wish to cause problems but I refuse to tell any lies.
The player was then probed as to what Roma must do to improve their lowly place in the standings.
“The table isn’t accurate right now, but we will do all we can to put it right. Roma have one of the strongest squads in Europe. We are on the same level as sides like Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Inter.
“Now its time we prove as much.”
