Inter duo Lucio and Julio Cesar have received positive news from the club's medical staff and may recover in time for the Derby d'Italia against Juventus on Sunday, after picking up knocks in the Nerazzurri's 4-0 win over Werder Bremen in the Champions League on Wednesday.
The defender and goalkeeper were both substituted during the course of the match against the Bundesliga outfit.
"Brazilians Julio Cesar and Lucio, both substituted after suffering injuries in last night's win over Werder Bremen, will undergo more fitness tests tomorrow. Their condition has improved, much to the satisfaction of Inter's medical team," read a statement on the club's official website.
After the match, coach Rafael Benitez had revealed the shot stopper had only been substituted off for Luca Castellazzi as a precaution. However, it now appears there is a chance both the players could recover for the high-profile match against rivals Juventus.
Meanwhile, eight players underwent differentiated training programs including Marco Materazzi, Diego Milito, Walter Samuel, and Javier Zanetti.
