Cesena's president is only focused on staying in Serie A despite topping the table at the moment...
"We're first in the standings with Inter? Of course, it's better to say we have collected seven points towards salvation, towards achieving 40 points," he said to Il Corriere dello Sport.
"The points have been legitimately earned. The lads have great spirit, both calm and determined."
A strange incident occurred during their 1-0 win over Lecce on the weekend in the 36th minute, as the referee showed Giuseppe Colucci his second yellow card, despite the fact it was defender Yuto Nagatomo who committed the foul. Despite being down to ten men, the Seahorses still managed the victory.
"Our strength was to react to that episode without losing it, as if nothing had happened," he continued.
"Indeed, it energised us, we played even better with ten men. We have an incredible desire and are strong in our common purpose. We'll celebrate this historic leadership in Serie A, but for better or worse it's seven points towards salvation."
Meanwhile, coach Massimo Ficcadenti has backed in-form striker Emanuele Giaccherini for a place on the Italian national team.
"[Italy coach Cesare] Prandelli is looking for new talent. He is little known to the public, but has great qualities. I don't think it's blasphemy for the coach to summon him. He's a serious player who deserves it and I think in the coming games he will confirm his aspirations for the Azzurri," explained the tactician.
Cesena take on Catania in Sicily on Wednesday.
