Inter president Massimo Moratti has told the press that coach Rafael Benitez will prove his detractors wrong. The former Liverpool and Valencia tactician has gotten off to a rocky start with the club, with a loss in the European Super Cup and draw at Bologna.
"He's here to pursue a full season and carry it out well. I think Benitez has the good sense, intelligence, and calm to get results. As always, it depends on us and also the fans, but honestly I believe the fans understand this and will help," Moratti suggested in an interview with the club's official website, inter.it.
"We can't order anything from the fans, this is just the reality. Some may make comparisons with the past, but I'm convinced Benitez will overcome those."
Meanwhile, Moratti spoke about defending their 2009-10 UEFA Champions League title.
"A beautiful feeling. It's a good feeling, very nice, and a big responsibility, but it shouldn't stop us because it is normal for players at this level. It will be both wonderful and difficult, because we have a tough first round," concluded the Nerazzurri supremo.
