The two sides will meet in the group stages of the Europa League.
"I cannot wait to return to play at Anfield," Dossena told Corriere Dello Sport. "It is something that would make me happy, as it was [Napoli coach Walter] Mazzarri who wanted me at the club.
"I want to show the Liverpool fans who the real Andrea Dossena is. I cannot wait to play against the Reds, as it will be a great match.
"Over the pre-season, I had a good preparation, as I was not injured. I will now aim to give my utmost to do well this season."
Dossena has set his objectives this season to coincide with the side's - wanting to do well in all three competitions.
"My objective is the same as the team's, as we want to do well in all three competitions. I am aiming to do well in the league, but am fascinated with the European adventure. This is why I an eager to get past the group stage of the tournament," concluded the defender.
