The Grifoni were victorious by a score of 1-0, but Toni, one of their high-profile summer signings had to be substituted during the match.
Originally it was feared he could be out for some time, but medical tests revealed that there is only a minor injury to the rectus femoral muscle of the left thigh and therefore was less serious than originally feared, according to Ansa.
The 33-year-old will continue to be monitored by club doctors as he recovers and will likely sit out their September 12 clash with Chievo Verona at the Marassi. Youngster Mattia Destro could take his place in the line-up.
