Cagliari coach Pierpaolo Bisoli says custodian Federico Marchetti is a professional, despite losing his starting position at the Isolani.

The 27-year-old Italian international had requested he be transferred from the side during the summer transfer window, with many suitors across Europe attempting to capture his signature.

But he and the club could not come to an agreement with sides such as Arsenal, Benfica, Celtic and Fulham.

"Marchetti is a great professional, and a very good person," Bisoli told Corriere Dello Sport. "He will continue to train with us, demonstrating the same determination he has shown up to now."

Michele Agazzi has been promoted to the No.1 shot-stopper position at the Rossoblu, as Marchetti will try again to find a new home when the market re-opens in January.

"Agazzi has the qualities needed to be a great goalkeeper. He does not need to hang himself if he makes an error, but I am sure he will do well because he is a focused person," added the coach.
