Zubizarreta says coach Pep Guardiola did not need a player such as the Sweden international, because he did not have the technical abilities the boss was after.
"I met with Guardiola on the day he had explained the situation to Ibra," the director told Sport. "The coach told me the problem was a technical issue, and the player had revealed his discontent."
"It was at this point that we started to consider the idea to sell the player. In the end, we decided to sell him to Milan."
He was also quoted by Marca as declaring that if Ibra had made a bigger impact in his sole season at Camp Nou, he would not have been transferred.
"If the player had scored 28 goals and had played every game last season we would not have sold him," he revealed.
Ibrahimovic joined the Rossoneri on a season-long loan deal with the Italian outfit having the option of purchasing the striker at the end of the 2010-11 campaign for €24 million.
