"On Monday, Gelson Fernandes has gone on loan, with an option to purchase, to AC Chievo Verona, the Italian Serie A club," read a statement on the French outfit's official website.
"The club wishes him luck in his new colours."
The 23-year-old has already featured for Manchester City in his young career before moving to France. The Swiss international scored a goal at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa as his side defeated eventual champions Spain 1-0 early in the group stages.
The flying Donkeys began their Serie A campaign with a 2-1 win over Catania on Sunday evening.
