Manchester City Forward Roque Santa Cruz In Rome For Medical At Lazio - Report
Santa Cruz will complete a deal to the Italian capital before the transfer window shuts...
By Andrew McLean
Manchester City's Paraguayan striker Roque Santa Cruz is closing in on a move to Lazio, as the former Bayern Munich player flies into Rome for a medical. The deal will be a loan move with a view to a permanent deal at the end of the season with the fee reported to be €8 million by TMW.
Santa Cruz has fallen well down the pecking order at Eastlands, as coach Roberto Mancini attempts to offload some of the fringe players in his expensive squad.
The Italian media is suggesting the deal will be completed once all the minor formalities have been ironed out. Agent Antonio Caliendo confirmed that talks had been opened between the two clubs. Despite a disagreement concerning the forward's wages, it finally looks like Santa Cruz will be on his way to the Italian capital.
Claudio Lotito is also looking to strengthen in defence. Fernando Meira a target for the Biancocelesti. The Zenit St. Petersburg defender has one year left on his contract in Russia but may remain with the club since the arrival of fellow Portuguese defender Bruno Alves from Porto.
