After watching his Palermo outfit make a sluggish start to the Serie A campaign following a stalemate against Cagliari, coach Delio Rossi bemoaned early season form for an inability to excite the Barbera crowd.

“We had a few problems with our decision making tonight,” he declared to SkySport.

“Maybe the side is still lacking some spark, but at this early stage in the season it is understandable that our condition is still not 100 percent.

“After a slow start I thought we came out positively in the second half. Unfortunately we were unable to break the deadlock and we can have little complaints with the final result.”

The coach was then probed as to whether his side has been weakened following the departure of Uruguayan hitman Edinson Cavani who joined Napoli over the summer.

“We must get used to playing without Cavani now he is no longer with us.

“Let’s not forget there are still a number of great forwards at my disposal but it will take a little time to place them into an effective system,” Rossi concluded.
