Lazio Coach Edoardo Reja Bemoans Penalty Decision Following Sampdoria Defeat
The Aquile tactician praised his men for a tonic opening to the Serie A season…
By Stefano Federici
After watching his side ruin a positive first half performance following some haphazard defending after the break, Lazio coach Edy Reja bemoaned a second half penalty which set the Aquile on course for a 2-0 defeat to Sampdoria.
“We were punished by the penalty,” he declared to SkySport shortly after the game.
“My side was tonic in the first half and if it wasn’t for a ten minute blackout during the second half the result could have been different.
“I have watched the replay and I think the referee was a little harsh on his decision making. I can’t take anything away from the boys as they showed a lot of positives tonight.
“Maybe we could have avoided some of the tension that came out after going a goal down, and even I need to learn to keep a cooler head at times.”
