Benfica After Roma Goalkeeper Alexander Doni - Report
The Brazilian goalkeeper could be on his way to Benfica...
By Stefan Coerts
The Liga Sagres champions are extremely unhappy with the performances of Roberto between the sticks and are therefore looking to add a new glovesman to their squad. Roberto only joined Benfica from Atletico Madrid earlier this summer, but the 24-year-old has been in abysmal form and is expected to be offloaded again before the transfer window slams shut.
Benfica coach Jorge Jesus supposedly sees the 30-year-old Doni as the perfect replacement for Roberto and is hopeful that the Lisbon giants secure the services of the Brazilian international before the end of this week.
Doni joined Roma from Juventude in the summer of 2005 and quickly became an important first team member at the Giallorossi. However, he has lost his spot in the starting XI in the last 12 months and could therefore leave the club.
