Having excelled at the Lisbon club in his homeland for several seasons, the 24-year-old will finally make the break to foreign climes, passing a medical with the Serie A outfit this week.
“I can't wait to start this adventure and to speak with [coach Gian Piero] Gasperini,” the player explained to Telenord.
“I already know that Genoa are strong. I have seen them on television and I know that the team has big ambitions.
“Gasperini is a great coach and I am at his service.”
The move has been a long time in the making. Genoa are expected to pay between €6-8 million for the player outright, plus the Italians will also send Alberto Zapater the way of the Portuguese club.
