Cesare Prandelli's reign as Italy coach will open with a friendly fixture in London on August 11, reports La Repubblica.
La Nazionale will arrange to confront one of either Egypt, Cote D'Ivoire or Uruguay at Fulham's Craven Cottage.
It will be Prandelli's first game in charge of his new side and a chance for him to experiment and get an idea of how to change the squad of World Cup flops that crashed out of South Africa last week.
While the opposition has not been confirmed, the Italian FA are in talks with both African, and the South American teams.
England are also expected to play a friendly on the same day at Wembley.
Prandelli will be unveiled officially on Thursday at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome as he takes over from Marcello Lippi.
