Alessandro Nesta has boosted Milan's chances of securing a third placed finish by marking his return from injury in training, the club said on Wednesday.
Milan's official website comfirmed that Nesta, who has been out since March 10, took part in the full session at Milanello alongside his team-mates as they prepare for this weekend's trip to Genoa.
The former Italian international suffered a broken popleteal tendon in his right knee prior to the Champions League match against Manchester United two months ago.
He underwent surgery and there were fears he would be out for the rest of the season. But he could taste some action on Sunday and then play in the final match of the season against Juventus a week later.
There was also some good news for Alexandre Pato. He was also training and could feature against the Ligurians after his long absence caused by a hamstring problem.
