Roma coach Claudio Ranieri has suffered a blow on the injury front prior to tomorrow's match against Atalanta with the news that centre-back Juan has not recovered from his injury.
The Brazilian defender sustained a thigh injury earlier this week and missed two successive training sessions in the latter half of the week as he attempted to recover. While he will be unable to feature against the Orobici, it is likely he will be back in time for next week's derby with Lazio.
As a result, Philippe Mexes will return to the starting XI to partner Nicolas Burdisso in the heart of the Giallorossi backline.
However, there was some good news as Julio Sergio has recovered from a bout of flu and should take his place between the posts at the Stadio Olimpico, with his deputy Alexander Doni on the bench.
Roma squad to face Atalanta: Julio Sergio, Doni; Andreolli, Mexes, Motta, Riise, Tonetto, Burdisso, Cassetti; Pizarro, Taddei, Faty, De Rossi, Perrotta, Cerci, Brighi; Vucinic, Totti, Baptista, Toni, Menez.
