English international midfielder David Beckham has sent a heartfelt message to Milan after his loan spell at the San Siro came to an early end following surgery on a ruptured Achilles tendon.

The Los Angeles Galaxy star sustained the injury while playing for the Rossoneri against Chievo last Sunday, the setback dashing his hopes of playing in a fourth World Cup with England.

A Clarence Seedorf’s piledriver gave Milan a precious win after Beckham had limped off to edge the Rossoneri to within one point of Serie A leaders Inter.

And the ex-Manchester United ace now hopes the Diavolo will go on to pip their bitter city rivals to the Scudetto.

“I want to wish the coach and all my team-mates good luck for the rest of the season and I hope you will bring the title home,” read a statement from Beckham on the club’s official website.

“I would also like to thank all of you for the support and the love you have all showed me after the match with Chievo.

“I was truly moved and I know I have true friends in the team. I hope to play again with you and be a part of this marvellous club.

“Thanks again for your support and good luck. Ciao, David.”

The message was read to the team by boss Leonardo prior to this morning’s training session at Milanello.
