Former Inter midfielder Nicola Berti has heralded coach Jose Mourinho as a genius following the Nerazzurri’s 1-0 victory over Chelsea last night.
“Mourinho’s choices were excellent, he trumped [Chelsea coach] Carlo Ancelotti. He is a genius, only he could think of deploying the offensive formation that he did last night,” Berti told fcinternews.
The former Italian international, who also enjoyed a brief spell at White Heart Lane with Tottenham, went on to praise the attitude of the players for a gutsy performance.
“The team were fearless and played with great character and a real conviction,” he added.
Finally, Berti picked out Dutch midfielder Wesley Sneijder and Brazilian defender Lucio as the two star performers and called for the team to use the result as a springboard to improve their league form.
“Sneijder and Lucio were really tested and [president Massimo] Moratti must be thrilled with them. Now we must take this new found enthusiasm into the league,” he concluded.
