Palermo Striker Fabrizio Miccoli: I Only Have Thanks For Luciano Moggi
Miccoli unperturbed by Moggi’s comments…
By Rupert Fryer
Palermo forward Fabrizio Miccoli has reacted favourably to recent comments from Luciano Moggi regarding their stormy relationship during his time at Juventus.
"I can only thank Moggi, because he sent me to Benfica where I learned a lot and became a better player,” Miccoli is quoted as saying by tuttomercatoweb.
The Italian was sent to Benfica on loan in 2005 before eventually signing for the Rosanero and was an instant hit in Portugal.
“I always played [at Benfica] and I became an idol in Lisbon, so I thank him forever,” he added.
Miccoli was reacting to a recent radio interview in which the former Juventus director said, “I always managed to have good relationships with players. The only time I failed to achieve that was with Miccoli.”
The former Italian international also commented on his omission from the national side, insisting that he would not question Marcello Lippi’s decision to exclude him.
“Lippi is the coach of the national team and he chooses which players to call up, who he believes in and who he doesn’t.”
