AC Milan Confirm Alessandro Nesta Will Have Knee Surgery On Monday
Nesta's season is likely over...
By Salvatore Landolina
A statement on the club's official website reads:
"A.C Milan communicates the medical situation: Alessandro Nesta will undergo surgery on Monday, March 15th. The operation will be carried out by professor [Pier Paolo] Mariani."
Surgery was always a likely possibility for Nesta after tests with Mariani on Friday revealed he is suffering from a broken popleteal tendon in his right knee.
There was hope he could avoid going under the knife, but Milan, Nesta and the medical staff decided surgery was the best option.
Milan entertain Chievo Verona on Sunday and they have the chance to move a point behind rivals, and league leaders Inter.
