Diego Calls For Bayern Munich Star Franck Ribery To Join Him At Juventus
The Brazilian also believes that the Bianconeri can finish third...
By Anthony Wright
Juventus playmaker Diego has announced his belief that not only can the Bianconeri secure a Champions League place this season, but that they can leapfrog one of Milan or Roma into third place.
Alberto Zaccheroni's side are currently eight points behind the Giallorossi, but Diego is confident that a Europa League run can also inspire them to success in Serie A.
"We've started on the right foot in the Europa League [with a 3-1 win against Fulham]. We want to win something - we didn't succeed in the Champions League but we will prove ourselves in the Europa League," Diego told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
"We are Juve, winning is part of our DNA. We must remain on display, on the European scene. Juventus cannot stay out of the loop - we have a squad able to compete on two fronts without sacrificing anything. I won't say it strongly, but we can finish third."
Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery has recently been linked with a move to the Old Lady in the summer, and Diego would welcome the signing.
"Ribery? He is a great player, one of the best in the world: someone like him is always welcome. It would be great. Quality players have the characteristics to play well together."
