Inter's surprise defeat to Catania has blown the Serie A title race wide open once again, and Claudio Ranieri's Roma will end the weekend four points off the Nerazzurri if they can beat Livorno on Sunday.

In his pre-match press conference, Ranieri maintained that the title was still Inter's to lose but added that the Giallorossi would be right on their tails if there were any more slip-ups from Jose Mourinho's men.

"I don't know if the championship has been re-opened. I'm continuing to think that only Inter can lose it. But if they lose it, then we want to be there," he told Romagiallorossa.com.

"Tomorrow will be a crucial game, the start of a new championship for us. We must win tomorrow. We want to do well, without deceiving our fans. We will do our best."

The former Juventus coach then gave some clues to his starting line-up as he was quizzed about the fitness of Luca Toni and Philippe Mexes, while he also addressed Francesco Totti's condition.

"[Toni] will start. He has been better this week. He's taken part in every training session, but isn't at 100 per cent yet obviously. [Mexes] is a starter. He's had minor injuries. When you have three great players [competing for two positions], those who are recovering can do so more calmly.

"[Totti] is doing well, he could return to the pitch next week. We have rushed him too many times. He is close to recovery, but I don't want to rush him."

Ranieri added that knowing Inter's result could prove to be an advantage when they face Livorno, as it should encourage his own players to victory.

"I'm not that interested in how my opponents play. Roma know how to play against everyone. If we need to change things then that's not a problem. Knowing Inter's result has to be a sign of destiny - it must encourage us."
