Inter President Massimo Moratti: Calcio Is Not In Crisis
President insists talk of Calcio crisis was inevitable following defeats…
By Rupert Fryer
Inter president Massimo Moratti has rejected talk that Calcio is in a state of crisis following AC Milan and Fiorentina’s exits from the UEFA Champions League.
"They always talk about a crisis as soon as you lose a game and when you win there's no longer a crisis. It's always the same,” he told inter.it.
Fiorentina were knocked out of the Champions League by Bayern Munich on Tuesday after a controversial goal at the Allianz Arena in the first leg proved to be decisive while AC Milan were hammered 4-0 by Manchester United in the second leg of their tie this week.
“It happens that you get difficult opponents and English football is difficult, especially when you play there, so it will be as hard for us as it has been for the others. But Spanish football has also had a few difficulties in the Champions League."
Finally, Moratti insisted the current plight of Italian teams in Europe placed no extra pressure on the Nerazzurri.
"We felt this responsibility before, too."
