Fiorentina midfielder Marco Marchionni admits that the Viola are focused solely on qualifying for Europe next season as they are chomping at the bit to avenge their early exit out of the Champions League at the hands of Bayern Munich.

But before the team can think about playing in any European tournament, they must improve on their league position, which sees them in 11th place on 35 points.

"We did some grand things in the Champions League, and we should be very proud of this," Marchionni stated to TMW. "Against Bayern, we demonstrated that we were worthy of progressing through to the quarter-finals, but this is football.

"In the league, we are currently off the pace, but we can recuperate the gap, and close in on a European place," he added.
