With Serie A survival within their reach, Cagliari coach Massimiliano Allegri appeared a little more cautious this weekend as he spoke ahead of his side’s forthcoming clash with Catania.

“It won’t be an easy game tomorrow against Catania,” he declared to Ansa.

“The Etnei play with great individuality and a clever game plan. They tend to break up the opposition’s fluidity and we must be patient against them.

“So far we have proven to be a balanced outfit and I expect the same from my men tomorrow.

“These players deserve all the plaudits for what they have achieved so far this season,” continued the coach.

“The recent call-ups received by [Federico] Marchetti and [Andrea] Cossu only serve to underline the quality we have here at Cagliari.

“Now I hope to see a packed Sant’Elia, because this side merits the enthusiasm of its fans.”
