Fiorentina left-back Juan Manuel Vargas remains a major doubt for tomorrow’s Serie A visit of Juventus, according to La Nazione newspaper.

The 26-year-old missed last week’s trip to Lazio with an ankle injury, but was expected to be available to line up against the Bianconeri.

However, he pulled up again during yesterday’s training session and there are fears that he will be forced to drop out of the squad.

Meanwhile, Alberto Gilardino has overcome his own injury problems and will be available for selection after missing last Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Lazio.

Argentine Mario Alberto Santana has also recovered and will push for a starting shirt in midfield where Cristiano Zanetti is likely to get the nod ahead of Marco Donadel and Mario Bolatti.
