Atalanta and midfielder Costinha have agreed to resolve the player's contract, revealed by the club's official website atalanta.it.
The spirited ball-winner arrived in Bergamo from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2007, but only made a single appearance for the club over the past two-and-a-half years.
A former Portuguese international, Costinha featured in Euro 2000, Euro 2004, and the World Cup 2006 for the European nation and overall collected 53 caps for his country.
At the age of 35, he has yet to give any indication of whether he wants to continue his playing career or hang up his boots. The player has featured for numerous clubs, most successfully with Monaco and Porto.
Last season, there were rumours he would assist Jose Mourinho, his former boss at Porto, on the Inter bench, but the move never materialised.
