Juventus have opened up dialogue with Ajax right-back Gregory van der Wiel with a view to signing him during the summer transfer window.

According to Tuttosport, Juventus have made contact with the player's agent Hakim Slimani to discover if he is ready for a big switch to Serie A. Juve have been looking at the Dutch international for some time, and Ajax coach Martin Jol confirmed that.

"Scouts from Juventus have been coming here to watch him in action," Jol said.

Last night's 2-1 Europa League win against the Lancers gave Juve another chance to get close and rub shoulders with the player who was outstanding during the game.

But Juve face competition from other clubs. Manchester City are one of the clubs also interested in van der Weil.

Nevertheless, the Bianconeri are keeping their options open in case Martin Caceres returns to Barcelona in the summer.
