Juventus captain Alessandro Del Piero has admitted he is looking forward to tomorrow’s night Europa League clash with Ajax and insisted the Bianconeri were taking the competition seriously.
“You will not be the champions of Europe [if you win it], but the Europa League can give great motivation," he told Tuttosport.
“True, it is not the Champions League, but there are teams at the highest level who may not have been able to find their form earlier in the season,” he added.
The 35-year-old World Cup winner went on to reveal there was a good feeling around the club following their Serie A victory over Genoa on Sunday.
"I'm optimistic and we are happy after the win on Sunday, because it came after two draws.”
Finally, Del Piero said Juve would not be underestimating Ajax, who he pointed out were a club with a great history.
Ajax are perhaps a team that are currently even undervalued compared to its history, they have won everything and always produced extraordinary players."
