Dino Zoff: Edy Reja Is The Right Man For Lazio
The veteran tactician has applauded Lotito’s decision to turn to his fellow Friulan.
By Vince Masiello
“I think he is the right man,” Zoff told Il Messaggero newspaper.
“He is my fellow countryman and we know each other very well. He is an experienced coach who can give tranquility and concreteness, which is exactly what Lazio need right now.
“He is accustomed to working in big places. Just look at his spell at Napoli, so he won’t let a city like Rome get to him.”
Lazio are in the thick of the Serie A relegation battle and Zoff admits he is not surprised, despite the Aquile starting the season with high expectations.
“To be honest, I saw it coming,” he mused. “After all, when a good team did without [Goran] Pandev and [Cristian] Ledesma and moreover the dressing room was always in turmoil, you’re bound to be concerned…”
Pandev and Ledesma were frozen out of the squad at the start of the campaign. The striker went on to join Inter on a free transfer in January while Ledesma was ultimately reinstated yesterday and could make his seasonal debut when Lazio travel to Parma this weekend.
